Dr. Seshagiri did most of his initial schooling in P.S. Senior Secondary School, Madras, and received the B.Tech degree in Electrical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, Madras in 1995.

He obtained M.S. degrees from Michigan State University in May 1998, in Electrical Engineering and Mathematics. Between June 1998 and Dec 1999, he worked at the Scientific Research Lab (SRL) at Ford Motor Company, Dearborn, in the Hardware-in-the-Loop (HitL) group, on modeling and control for HEVs.

He then did his PhD in the area of output regulation of nonlinear systems under the supervision of Prof. Hassan Khalil, graduating in July 2003. Since Aug 2003, he has been with the Electrical & Computer Engineering Department at San Diego State University , first as Assistant Professor, and currently as Associate Professor (since 2009). His research interests are in the broad areas of nonlinear control, adaptive approximation based control, and applications to machines/drives, and renewable energy technologies (photovoltaics, wind energy systems and storage).
